Effective Date: October 2026 | Version 3.0
Thank you for choosing Second Signature as your consignment partner. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before submitting items. By submitting items for consignment — whether by drop-off, post or local pickup — you agree to be bound by the terms set out in this document.
All references to “days” in this document mean calendar days, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
1. Item Eligibility & Acceptance
Second Signature accepts women’s clothing and accessories across all price points. All items submitted must meet the following criteria:
- Clean, freshly laundered, and free from odour
- Free from stains, holes, pilling, broken zippers, or any damage
- Accurately described by the consignor at the time of submission
- Not counterfeit or misrepresented in any way
- Expected to resell for approximately $25.00 or more, as reasonably assessed by Second Signature
- For items with an estimated listing price of $150.00 or more: accompanied by reasonable proof of provenance (such as an original receipt, authentication certificate, or purchase confirmation), where requested by Second Signature.
Items that do not meet the above standards — including items that are not clean, are damaged, are inaccurately described, are counterfeit, have an expected resale value below approximately $25.00, or (for items $150.00 and over) lack reasonable proof of provenance where requested — will be declined at intake and will not be listed.
Where an item is declined, it is the consignor's responsibility to either collect the item or pay for its return:
- Drop-off consignors: declined items must be taken back on the day, per Section 2c.
- Postal consignors: declined items will be held for 14 days. The consignor must arrange and cover return postage within this period. Items unclaimed after 14 days will be donated.
All items are priced by Second Signature in line with Section 8 of these terms.
2. Consignment Submission
2a. Monthly Intake Schedule
To manage processing workload, Second Signature accepts consignment lots on a monthly intake cycle, applying equally to drop-off, postal, and local pickup consignments:
- A minimum of 5 items is required per consignment lot, regardless of submission method. A maximum of 25 items per lot applies as set out in Sections 2c–2e.
- Items must be submitted — dropped off, received by post, or collected via local pickup — by the 1st of each month to be included in that month's round.
- A maximum of 10 consignment lots is accepted per monthly round, allocated first-come, first-served.
- Where a lot is submitted after the 1st, or once the 10-lot cap for that round has been reached, it will automatically carry over to the following month's round. No separate action is required from the consignor.
- Items accepted into a monthly round go live 14 days after that round's cutoff date — for example, items accepted by the 1st of the month go live on the 15th.
2b. Booking a Slot
Consignors request a place in a monthly round by completing the online consignment form on our website and nominating their preferred month and submission method (drop-off, post or local pickup). Second Signature will confirm the consignor's place, along with the specific drop-off appointment, postal dispatch window or pickup day, within 2 business days.
- Booking a slot is free. No booking fee applies.
- If a consignor is unable to submit items as arranged, they should let Second Signature know as soon as possible. The slot may then be released for reallocation, and the consignor is welcome to book a place in a future round.
- Where items are declined at intake under Section 1 and fewer than 5 items are accepted, Second Signature may still list the accepted items, or may return the lot, at its discretion and in consultation with the consignor.
2c. Drop-Off (Chelsea Heights, Victoria)
- Drop-offs are by appointment only, at the date and time booked within the consignor's allocated monthly round.
- Items will be inspected at the time of drop-off. Any declined items must be taken back by the consignor on the day.
- Maximum 25 items per consignment lot.
2d. Postal Consignment
- Maximum 25 items per consignment lot.
- Consignors must complete an online Consignment Request Form and receive written approval before posting any items.
- Items must be sent via tracked postage at the consignor's cost, timed to arrive within the consignor's allocated monthly round.
- Second Signature is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit to us.
- Items declined at intake are handled per Section 1.
2e. Local Pickup Service
As an alternative to drop-off or post, Second Signature offers a local pickup service once per monthly round, within a defined local area surrounding Chelsea Heights, Victoria.
- Local pickup is available within approximately 20km of Chelsea Heights. Second Signature will confirm at the time of booking whether a consignor's address falls within the serviced area.
- Pickup occurs on a single nominated day shortly after each round's cutoff date, advised at the time of booking.
- A flat pickup fee of $15.00 applies. Nothing is payable upfront: the fee is deducted from the consignor's sale earnings.
If the consignor's total earnings across the consignment period are less than $15.00, the unpaid balance of the pickup fee is waived.
3. Fees
There are no booking fees and no listing fees. Second Signature is paid by commission only, deducted from the sale price of each item that sells, as set out in Section 5. Commission covers photography, editing, measurements, listing creation, and ongoing listing management. The only other charges that may apply are:
- A local pickup fee of $15.00, deducted from earnings, per Section 2e.
- A withdrawal processing fee of $2.00 per item, where the consignor requests early withdrawal, per Section 11.
No amount is payable upfront to have items listed.
4. Listing Period, Price Reduction & End of Consignment
All items are listed for up to 120 days from the date the listing goes live. The following timeline applies. All periods below are calendar days.
| Stage | Period | Pricing | Action Required |
| Full Price | Days 1–60 | Full agreed price | None |
| Automatic Reduction | Days 61–120 | 25% off agreed price | None — consignor may opt out (see below) |
Consignors may opt out of the automatic reduction for any or all items when approving their pricing summary under Section 8, or by email at any time before Day 60. Items opted out remain at the full agreed price for the full listing period. Where a 25% reduction would take an item below a minimum price nominated by the consignor, the item is reduced to that minimum price instead.
The consignment period for an item ends at the first of the following points to occur:
- The item sells.
- The item is withdrawn by the consignor under Section 11.
- Day 120 — if the item remains unsold.
When an item's consignment period ends unsold, the end-of-consignment process in Section 7 applies.
Note: Second Signature will not reduce an item's price beyond the automatic reduction described above without the consignor's written agreement.
5. Commission & Earnings Split
Upon the sale of an item, the proceeds will be split between the consignor and Second Signature as follows:
| Sale Price | Consignor Receives | Second Signature Receives |
| Under $50.00 | 40% | 60% |
| $50.00 – $149.99 | 60% | 40% |
| $150.00 and above | 70% | 30% |
The commission split applies to the final sale price of the item, inclusive of any price reductions, and excludes any shipping charges paid by the buyer. Any local pickup fee owing under Section 2e is deducted from the consignor's share.
6. Consignor Payouts
- Payouts are made fortnightly, every second Friday.
- Payouts include all items sold where the buyer has confirmed receipt, or where 7 days have passed since tracked delivery with no dispute raised under Section 12.
- Payouts are made by bank transfer. Consignors must provide their BSB and account number at intake. Second Signature is not responsible for incorrect banking details provided by the consignor.
- A minimum payout threshold of $10.00 applies. Amounts below $10.00 will roll over to the following fortnight.
- An itemised payout statement will be emailed to the consignor each payout period, detailing items sold, sale price, commission split, and net earnings.
7. Unsold & Unclaimed Items
Where an item's consignment period ends unsold at Day 120, per Section 4, the following applies:
- Consignors will be notified by email and given 14 days to arrange collection or return postage.
- Drop-off consignors must collect items from Chelsea Heights within 14 days of notification.
- Postal consignors must arrange and prepay return postage within 14 days of notification.
- Any items not claimed within 14 days of the end-of-consignment notification will be donated to a local charity.
- Second Signature accepts no liability for items unclaimed beyond the 14-day window.
8. Pricing
- Second Signature will determine the listing price of each item based on brand, condition, and current market demand.
- Consignors will receive a pricing summary by email for approval before any items go live.
- Consignors have 7 days to respond to the pricing summary. If no response is received within this period, the proposed prices are deemed accepted and items will be listed.
- If pricing cannot be agreed on a particular item, the consignor may withdraw that item prior to listing at no charge.
- All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) inclusive of GST where applicable.
9. Care of Items & Liability
- Second Signature will take reasonable care of all items in our possession.
- Items in our possession are not insured by Second Signature against loss, theft, fire, flood or damage. Consignors should arrange their own insurance cover for high-value items if desired.
- We are not liable for minor handling wear that may occur during photography or storage.
- We are not liable for loss or damage caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including fire, flood, theft, or other unforeseen events.
- Second Signature's total liability to a consignor in connection with any single item, however arising, is limited to the lower of the item's agreed listing price or $150.00.
- Second Signature is not responsible for items lost in transit when being posted to us by the consignor.
10. Consignor Responsibilities
- Consignors confirm that they are the rightful owner of all items submitted and have the right to sell them.
- Consignors confirm that all items are genuine and not counterfeit.
- Consignors agree to provide reasonable proof of provenance for items $150.00 and over, where requested, per Section 1.
- Consignors agree to disclose any known faults or defects at the time of submission. Failure to disclose known faults may result in the item being removed from sale and returned at the consignor's cost.
- Consignors agree to keep their contact details and banking information up to date.
11. Withdrawals & Early Removal
Once an item has been listed, consignors may request early withdrawal at any time. However:
- A withdrawal processing fee of $2.00 per item applies to cover administration.
- Items will be made available for collection or return within 7 days of the withdrawal request.
- Second Signature reserves the right to delay withdrawal if a sale is pending or in dispute.
12. Buyer Disputes & Returns
All sales are final. Second Signature does not offer change-of-mind returns to buyers. The following applies only where a buyer raises a genuine claim that an item is not as described, faulty, or materially different from its listing.
- A buyer may raise a not-as-described or fault dispute within 7 days of confirmed tracked delivery. Disputes raised after this period will not be considered, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.
- On receipt of a dispute, Second Signature will investigate — which may include requesting photos from the buyer and reviewing original listing photos and condition notes — and will act as intermediary between the buyer and consignor.
- Where a return is warranted because a fault or material discrepancy was not disclosed by the consignor at submission, any refund issued to the buyer will be recovered from the consignor's earnings on that item. If insufficient earnings are available, the consignor will be invoiced for the shortfall.
- Where a dispute is found to relate to a condition accurately disclosed by the consignor and noted in the listing, Second Signature will not seek recovery from the consignor.
- Second Signature aims to resolve disputes within 14 days of being raised. Second Signature's decision in dispute resolution is final.
13. Privacy & Information Handling
Second Signature collects personal information from consignors in order to provide the consignment service, including name, contact details (email and phone), address, and bank account details (BSB and account number) for the purpose of processing payouts.
- Information collected is used only for the purposes of managing your consignment, processing payouts, and communicating with you about your items.
- Banking details are used solely to process payouts owed to you and are not used for any other purpose.
- We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties, except where necessary to provide the service (for example, postage and payment processing) or where required by law.

15. Amendments to These Terms
Second Signature reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be published on our website and will apply to all new consignment submissions from the date of publication. Existing consignments will continue under the terms in place at the time of submission.
